VENICE BIENNALE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Courtney Wagner participated in the 58th Venice Biennale 2019 as part of the Professional Development Program. Courtney was on a one month placement in the Australian Pavilion in Giardini housing the work of Angelica Mesiti ASSESMBLY.

The Venice Biennale 2019 Professional Development Program leverages Australia’s presence at the Venice Biennale to offer a suite of capacity building opportunities for the contemporary visual arts sector.

The Program is designed to support emerging arts workers by giving them the chance to build their professional skills and expertise, develop new networks, and gain invaluable experience working on a large-scale international project.

Crucially, participants in our Professional Development Program become part of the Australian Venice Biennale team. As such, they will gain practical ‘behind-the-scenes’ working knowledge of the greater Venice Biennale project, the Australian Pavilion exhibition and associated events.

Additionally, participants in our Professional Development Program will be immersed in a world of international contemporary art practice, which may inspire new ways of presenting and making work and promote better understanding of the international landscape.

This opportunity is generously supported by Create NSW and Australia Council for the Arts. For more information please click on the images on this page and the logos below.
